Pergola and porch installation
The outdoor space you actually use, rain or shine
The outdoor space you actually use: afternoons outside without direct sun and without the tramuntana folding your parasol
We design and install pergolas and porches in the garden, on the terrace or on a roof terrace so you get an outdoor space you can actually use — not only when the weather plays along. We work on new builds, extensions of existing homes and exterior refurbishment. The difference between a pergola you enjoy and one that ends up being taken down usually comes down to getting the sizing right on day one (orientation, prevailing wind, real dimensions, integration with the home), not the material.
Every outdoor space calls for a different solution
Before choosing a type, we look at real use: do you want to eat outside at midday or just enjoy the afternoon? Is the plot's prevailing wind the tramuntana (north) or the marinada (south)? Will the pergola be free-standing or attached to the home as a porch? What we usually propose depending on the case:
- Bioclimatic pergola with adjustable louvres — the most versatile. You control sun and ventilation by the hour, and it withstands demanding wind conditions when properly anchored. It's usually the right answer on the Costa Brava because of the tramuntana.
- Traditional timber or metal pergola — a warmer, more aesthetic option, ideal in rural settings and country houses. It needs a complementary cover (reed, canvas, climbing plants) if you want real shade.
- Structural porch — an extension with a fixed roof tied to the home. It requires a major-works permit but becomes part of the body of the house and adds usable covered square metres.
- Mixed solutions — an attached pergola with folding enclosures or windbreaks when use is very frequent or you want continuity with the interior.
From there we size it, anchor it and resolve the fine details (roof drainage, lighting, electrical supply for outdoor climate control if of interest).
Excellence, close to home
Since 1969, when our father founded Construccions Montero, we have worked on outdoor spaces across the Alt Empordà, the Baix Empordà and the whole Costa Brava. Having a home with a garden or terrace in this area means living with two very specific phenomena: the relentless midday sun in summer and the tramuntana in winter and spring. A well-sized pergola solves both; a badly anchored one, neither. Being local lets us assess the plot on site before proposing and, afterwards, handle maintenance if needed.
Your pergola, step by step
We take a serious approach before committing to figures, above all because badly done anchoring is the number one cause of pergolas that end up being taken down.
- You get in touch and tell us the situation: type of home, location of the pergola, intended use (meals, relaxing, pool, outdoor kitchen), whether it will be free-standing or attached to the home.
- Our technician visits the outdoor space, measures, checks the orientation, identifies the plot's prevailing wind and inspects the existing structure (slab, wall, ground) where it must be anchored.
- We send you a no-obligation quote, with two or three options of type and materials, detailing the anchoring and the installation timeframe.
- We install with the chosen material, anchoring calculated for the plot's real wind and, where applicable, electrical supply and lighting integrated into the structure.
Finally take your afternoons outside — ask us for a quote for your pergola or porch
Every outdoor space is different. We visit the plot, check orientation and wind, and send you a closed quote with two or three options of type, with no obligation.
